Well, if you have navigated to this page, then you are interested in finding out about the ‘Shop What You Got’ Challenge.

Congratulations brave one – This is NOT for the faint hearted fashion lover.

Below is the quick and dirty version of the rules. Want to know the full story – what inspired the challenge etc – you can read the post from the 2013 challenge here.

What’s the idea?

30 pieces of clothing for 30 days. Pick them out, and remix them to create an outfit everyday.

Whoa – I know right? I never said it was going to be easy.

Rules

Pick your 30 pieces

Over the course of the challenge period, you are only allow to mix and remix those 30 items as your outfits for the month.

Shoes are included but accessories like belts, scarves and jewellery are not.

Weather specific clothing is not included (umbrella, hat, gumboots, raincoat etc) and neither is sleepwear/gymwear/swimming costume/uniform etc. I’m talking about your main ‘styled’ outfit for the day.

Underwear is not counted. Please, in the interest of public hygiene, wear as much underwear as you want. Seriously – go nuts.

If you are giving yourself a day off – or have a special occasion – this is fine – but try and declare it upfront. This challenge will require you to some-what try and plan your outfits in advance.

As if styling and restyling the same pieces wasn’t enough of a challenge – I’m also going to curb my shopping habits, and just Shop What I Got for the month of November!

Check out this post to see a collage of every outfit for my 2014 Challenge! I’ve also posted some hints and tips on how to really nail this challenge.

How to play along?

  1. I’ve just found out about this and I think I’ve got just enough time to come up with 30 items! (I’ve got 16 so far.) I spend way too much time in op shops, my (physical) wardrobe is tiny, and my poor neglected blog sorely needs some content, so it’s a win all round.

A quick question: Are you counting handbags as part of the 30? I only really have two but I’m the sort of person who has to be clear about everything before they start 🙂

  2. OMG. I’m preparing myself for the 2014 round. Trying to figure out what the heck to do about work clothes since they are SO different to my everyday style… I’m thinking of making 3-5 work pieces exempt and declaring that upfront. Anyways, looking forward to the 2014 launch. x
