I’m crushing so hard on all things velvet and suede at the moment.
It’s retro and new all st the same time – and I just can’t keep my hands to myself (I guess I could but why would I want to) when it comes to the luxe feel.
But, you know what’s difficult about being that chick that went viral for not wearing shapewear? Being anywhere and wearing shapewear. My original point was never that I hate shapewear, or that no one should ever wear shapewear… my point was that no one else gets a vote in MY decision to wear shapewear. If I choose not to – that’s my decision; if I choose to wear them – that’s OK too. And I do occasionally wear them – especially under suede and velvet.
Shapewear Australia specialise in plus size shapewear and they sent their Body Shaper to review in a few sizes. Unlike other ones I’ve tried that try to squish you into a completely different shape – these ones were all about firm, smooth lines – exactly the look I’m after under velvet. They come in standard and plus sizing and I found both the Small and Medium to be a good fit – they just varied in the amount of ‘compression’ they provided.
Under dresses like the grey suede dress (Naanaa Tall High Neck Lace Up Pencil Dress from ASOS) I preferred the firmer control of the size small – but where the velvet was a bit more forgiving in the blue dress (Miselba from Ozsale), the medium was a better fit – so I guess it just comes down you your personal preference!
Anyone that’s lost a lot of weight will have experienced some degree of excess skin – and having that secure makes me feel more comfortable and confident – that’s the sexiest accessory of all!
