So the last few years, when the Aussie Curves challenge theme of ‘Festival’ came up, I was able to share my outfits for the various music festivals I was attending. Oh my, how things have changed. There was no Big Day Out for me this year, and I’ll be staying home with the baby while my husband enjoys Soundwave. So – if you’re heading to a music festival… I’ll point you right now in the direction of those posts: here, here, here and here.
These days, a farmers market is more my speed… And aren’t they getting fancy? Well my local is at least. It turns a chore into a great family outing, and I must say, with Bulli Foragers Market putting on musical acts, it’s got more of a festival vibe than grocery shopping!
Farmer’s Markets are a great way to buy produce directly from smaller farmers. Not only is it a great way to support local business, but it’s also a affordable way to buy sustainable, organic fruit and veg. Plus, the Forages market also has stalls for specialist gourmet produce, and every few weeks artisan stalls are also permitted showcasing unique and beautiful hand made and curated items. I love wandering around for ages looking at all the things – hubby is a bit more down-to-buisness so the awesome food stalls are a great way to buy me a little more time. Mmmmm the fritter house is my favourite, closely followed by anyone selling home-made gelato!
Down to the outfit! I always try to wear something bright to a market – mainly so that Hubby can spot me if I get distracted and wander off. On Wednesday I posted about my experience in Forever 21 in Brisbane, and this is one of the dresses I picked up. It was originally $54.80, but I got it on sale for $41 (the price online in the US was US$27.80 if you’re playing along at home).
In addition to loving the orange and coral color combo – I adore the back detail which helps keep me cool, makes for a nice design feature, but doesn’t actually reveal too much skin.
If I was going anywhere else, I’d match it with tan flats and a little tan bag, but a market calls for a BIG tote, so I brought along my beautiful Sportsgirl tote which was a gift at Christmas from my KK. Keeping in the color family, I picked out these woven sandals that were given to me about 4 Christmases ago by my best friend – they are old favourites – and super comfortable – another must for market shopping.
A heavy layer of sunscreen, a large straw hat, and plenty of small change and I’m ready to hit the Bulli Foragers Market.
