It’s Aussie Curves Pajama week, and I’m putting a different spin on things. The weather is heating up and this summer, I’m looking forward to rocking some shorts.
I’ve been on the hunt for summer shorts for a few weeks now. I’m loving the slouchy short shapes for SS14. I’m also loving tropical floral prints. So when I saw these Piping Hot shorts, I knew I had to have them. While I loved them, hubby, was not so much a fan. The slouchy shape, the tropical print, the silky material – he thinks they look like pajama pants – and I had to admit that maybe (MAYBE) he had a point.
So, for this week’s challenge… I’m styling these shorts so they DONT look like pajamas.
Avoiding tight tops, spaghetti straps and lace details, I went for unexpected texture by pairing the shorts with a light summer knit with subtle embellishments from Target.
I picked up the tip from Cosmo about pairing slouchy with slouchy for a chic look – and the swing shape of this top is perfect. When I want to look a little more polished, I tuck in my top – this time, I’ve just tucked in the very front edge of the shirt to maintain its slouchy feel, but reveal a little more of the great colours in this tropical print.
Some summer sandals and a little bit of bling makes sure no-one is thinking I’m stepping out in my boxer shorts this summer!
