Aussie Curves {Fears Exposed}

This week in the Aussie Curves Challenge – the theme is Fears Exposed and I’m leaping in both feet first with not one, but two of my fashion fears…

The print twinset AND a crop top.

It took me a long time to plunge into the twinset trend. I’ve loved the look on my favorite bloggers, so chic and fashion-y – I’ve added matching sets to online shopping carts several times, but I just wasn’t sure I’d be able to pull it off. Then the set that I had been coveting at Simply Be went on sale – it was enough to push me over the edge and I ordered them.

Simply Be do not ship to Australia (booo) so I used a freight forwarder ( to get my wares from the US to AU. If you want to read more about freight forwarders – I’ve written about it previously here.

I’m still not sure I’m ready yet to fully rock the crop top and pencil skirt combo with a potentially bare midriff, so underneath I’m wearing a black Lycra singlet from Kmart. As an added bonus, the singlet helps to create a smooth line, especially down my back (over my bra) which is a pet peeve of mine. It’s a good tip to easy yourself into this look – I hope one day to forget about the singlet and be able to fully rock a crop, but I’m going to let myself off the hook for now – after all, I had a baby 6 weeks ago!

I’ve done the rounds and found some other fab twinsets available in plus and extended sizing…

Simply Be Scuba Print Crop Top and Skirt | Lipstick Boutique Plus Floral Print Blazer and Shorts from ASOS | BoohooPLUS – Tina Metallic Printed Jogger and Sweater (coming soon) | Alice & You Folk Print Relaxed Short and Tee via ASOS | Simply Be Shell Top and Scuba Skirt

So, what about you? Do you dare to pair? Do you rock a crop?

  1. I love this look on you Jo. I have been contemplating buying a twin set lately. I think you have just made up my mind for me. I like wearing crop tops but only with very high skirts lol. Shannon x

    1. Thanks Bec – I don’t have much choice, we are in the process of moving house and we were supposed to be in by now – most of my clothes are packed in boxes – I’m just making do with what’s available.

  2. You look amazing. Totally amazing. I saw the first photo and gasped. I have to order this next time I am browsing Simply Be.
    Don’t thing I have ever worn a twinset. Hmm a new challenge along with the crop top.
    On the singlet topic… Aldi has a dress shapewear that is really a clingy singlet dress that smooths wonderfully and its $10. (This week) I bought heaps as the bra line is a peeve of mine too.

  3. You look AMAZING! And you totally can’t tell you’d had a baby 6 weeks previously! I have yet to rock matching prints, but it’s something I want to try. As for crop tops, I LOVE them and I’m looking forward to wearing even more in summer!
