I’m the first to admit, and applogise, that I have been a little bit neglectful of late to the blog and the Aussie Curves Challenge in particular. In my last couple weeks of work before maternity leave, things seem to be ramping up rather than winding down, and I’ve found myself down in Melbourne for a couple of weeks finishing off some major projects.
I mention this as I wasn’t the most organised packer and just threw a random collection of clothes that still fit me into my suitcase and flew out the door, which means I spent a bit of time staring at the jumble of half-baked outfits in my bag, wondering how on earth I was going to make something work for this week’s challenge theme: Spikes.
Why yes that IS an insane amount of accessories for a 2 week business trip, but as far as I’m concerned, your frosting can make or break an outfit – and can definitely be the difference between someone noticing you’ve worn essentially the same outfit 3 times or thinking you’re a fabulously chic packer.
My entire outfit has been inspired by this chunky jewel and spike necklace I picked up from THE ICONIC. It’s one of my favourite pieces of day-bling, and a great way to add some glamour and interest to your day look.
I find the trick to wearing really chunky and blingy jewellery during the day is to keep everything else paired down and simple. Pairing with denim is always a good idea for a causal look, and I’m using acid wash jeans for a really relaxed look and I have gone one step further with this grey grandpa cardigan from Big W.
It’s short and sweet from me getting back into the Aussie Curves swing of things…
