Aussie Curves {Peplum}

This week’s Aussie Curves Challenge is Peplum.

I love peplum tops. I have a lot of them, and I’ve featured them in quite a few posts before including Style Me Friday – where I stole Suger’s Style, and my post on Peplum V Peplum – where I put them on all to compare shape and cut in different brands.

This week, I’m showing off my latest purchase – from the new line at Best and Less. The cap sleeves with the eyelash lace on this top are perfect. I don’t usually like too much volume in the peplum, but I love the look of it in this top.

The cut of this top is generous – I’m wearing a size 14. For $20, I think I scored a bit of a bargain. It also comes in Fushia! For me, Best and Less was always a secret little place to find the occasional fashion gem… And for it, I would make certain concessions for the ‘shopping experience’ instore. However with their new campaign, B&L are trying to position themselves more as a fashion destination. Having some great clothes and marketing them is only part of the story – the experience of shopping for clothes there is terrible. Hands up if you’ve had the experience of trying something on in B&L? Firstly, the changerooms are generally locked, so you have to go and find a staff member to unlock them (and then stand outside the door until you’re finished). Secondly, the lighting in the changeroom SUCKS! If I’m throwing on one thing to check the sizing – I can forgive this experience. If your marketing yourself to rival fashion retailers, you bring me in store, I have an arm full of clothes to try on… I can’t forgive that. Lift your ‘shopping experience’ Best and Less! It’s really letting you down at the moment. Have you had a similar instore experience?

My instore experience aside, I really think this is a fabulous top to easily transition from work to a night out. Friday is always my most hectic day at work – which means I am constantly running out late on a Friday night to meet my hubby and friends. Being able to change a couple of simple accessories (ideally in the car!) save me time, and potentially an argument with hubby 🙂

Night Look

Peplum Top: Best and Less
Jeans: Forever 21+
Belt: Black Glitter Belt – Dorothy Perkins
Earrings: Diva
Wedges: Black Mesh Wedges from Dorothy Perkins.

I was in love with these wedges and thought they would be perfect for an upcoming wedding in October – I find Dorothy Perkins shoes to be quite generous (length wise, not width) – I ordered a UK6 instead of my normal size (UK7 or AU9) and they fit my foot like a dream – however, I do struggle with the ankle strap. I have quite thick ankles (one more so than the other) and it cuts in something terrible – particularly on my left (fattier) ankle. I’m going to try and have them altered. A little bit of extra ankle fabric and they would be perfect. I’ll keep you posted on how the alterations go!

Short and sweet from me today – don’t forget to check out the other lovely Aussie Curves ladies in the blog hop below!

Do you have any tips for taking an outfit from Day to Night easily?
